The Leeds University Spring Careers Festival is fast approaching and ICS-digital will be well-represented.
While we welcome experts from all sorts of backgrounds to join us, early career professionals and graduates are always going to factor into our plans as a digital business that sees the success of our local academic institutions.
As a graduate, starting a new job can often be a stressful experience but our onboarding process is really smooth and simple and we especially welcome graduates who have a strong interest in marketing, communication, writing and are as enthusiastic as we are about our global scale.
Speaking about my own experience, I’ve found it great to join a team that has really supportive line management and team members.
Settling in felt so easy and from an early stage it was great to have my ideas heard and implemented when put forward.
There are many more reasons why I’d recommend starting a career at ICS-digital (and our sister agency ICS-translate), but I thought I would list my top 5 below!
1. Supportive Culture
I think the main way that you can succeed in your career is to be surrounded by those who have a genuine interest in you and what you want to achieve.
By having a supportive environment, it allows you to grow as an individual and have your ideas not only listened to, but actually put into practice.
ICS-digital provides just that - a supportive culture where everyone is valued for their contributions at team and individual levels.
2. Great Development Opportunities
There are so many opportunities at ICS-digital for both personal and professional development, which is really motivating.
One initiative that provides such an opportunity is the agency-wide access the Udemy learning platform with thousands of courses.
To ensure that our teams benefit from the access to all courses, ICS-digital encourages people to use Udemy in their working hours through the “Drop Everything and Learn” sessions. These sessions involve us selecting specific online courses from the Udemy site that interest us, allowing us to develop in the areas that we are passionate about.
For a graduate or early career professional, having this instant access to learning is a great resource.
3. Reward and Recognition
At ICS-digital we are rewarded and recognised for creative ideas, supporting each other and working hard for client success.
This is reflected in career progression with most managers and heads of department starting as executives. As a graduate, there’s definite scope for progression and to build a career.
However, one of the most fun ways we recognise achievements on an everyday level is the monthly raffle. Here employees can nominate each other for doing a good piece of work, going the extra mile or helping others.
All of the raffle entries are put into a draw at the end of each month and some great prizes can be won - from coffee machines and household gadgets to champagne and food hampers.
4. Fun Days
At ICS-digital we like to have regular fun days where we get together in the office and participate in activities - often with a major focus on food.
Recently we had an Easter Fun day, which involved a disproportionately energetic egg hunt, quiz and fish & chip lunch - which in my opinion is just what we needed before enjoying the bank holiday weekend!
5. Weekly Perks
Finally, having breakfast provided on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Friday refreshments in the office is a great way to keep you going throughout the week.
These are fab opportunities to have a quick chat with colleagues from other teams - what better way to catch up than over fresh coffee and a croissant?
If you like the sound of why I love being part of ICS-digital and would like to join our team, then meet us at the Spring Careers Festival or head to our careers page where you can apply for our current openings. We’re a growing team and regularly have new opportunities, so keep an eye out for anything that you may be interested in!
